Setup VPN Using PPTP Server Client on Mikrotik Router - PPTP (Point to Point Tunnel Protocol) is one of the service are commonly used to establish a VPN network. A PPTP connection consists of server and client. PPTP uses a control channel over TCP Protocol ( port 1723) and IP Protocol GRE (port 47) tunnel operating to encapsulate PPP packets.

Mikrotik PPTP Server Setup on Head Office
1. Login to mikrotik user using Winbox
2. Go to PPP => PPTP Server. Checklist on Enable Checkbox. Set Default Profile " default encryption" so that vpn path encrypted
3. Go to Secret TAB on PPP window. And add New PPP secret.
Note :
- Enter username and password for client authentication process that will connect to pptp server
- Select any/pptp on the drop down menu service
- Select default-encryption on drop down menu Profile.
- Enter IP Address on Local Address that will be plugged dynamically.on the router itself after pptp link established
- Enter IP Address on Remote Address. This IP Address will be given to the client after pptplink established
4. Click Apply and OK
Mikrotik pptp client Setup on Branch Office
1. Go to PPP => Interface Tab => Add PPTP Client
2. Enter IP Public Mikrotik Router Head Office (PPTP Server) on Connect To. Enter username and password that has been created on text field User and Password. Select default-encryption on drop down menu Profile. Click Apply and OK, and pptp connection will established, authenticated and connected.
3. Set static route at both mikrotik router ( Head Office and Brach Office ) so that LAN at head office and LAN at branch office can communicate between both of them.

Enter block LAN ip address branch office at Dst. Address text fiel, and enter gateway ip address at gateway text field.Go to IP => Routes => Add New Route

PPTP Client Setup on Windows XP/7/8
1. Open Control Panel => Network Connections => Create a New Connection
3. Select "Connect to the network at my workplace", and click next
4. Select "Virtual private network connection", click next
5. Enter Company Name, and click next
6. Enter Hostname or IP Public IP Address of Mikrotik router head office, and click next
7. Checklist on add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop checkbox if you want it.
8. Enter username and password, and click connet
